Marketa Vondrousova triumphs at Wimbledon.

On July 15, tennis player Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic defeated tennis player On Jabeur of Tunisia to win Wimbledon's inaugural unseeded women's singles title.

After defeating No. 6 seed Ons Jabeur in a historic match, 6-4, 6-4, Vondrousova was awarded the coveted Venus Rosewater Dish.

The player won six Wimbledon matches, defeating four seeded opponents, and emerged from the top half of the draw.

The fourth-ranked Jessica Pegula was Vondrousova's toughest opponent to beat in the quarterfinals. After Bille Jean King (1963), she was the first unseeded woman to reach the Wimbledon final in 60 years.

Last year, Vondrousova faced off against Ons Jabeur as a huge underdog.She attempted to win her first Grand Slam title but was defeated by Ash Barty in the 2019 French Open final.

Naomi Osaka was also defeated by the left-handed player at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

After Jana Novona and Petra Kvitova, she is the third Czech woman to win the women's singles championship.
