Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) invites online applications from young and energetic candidates for the appointment of Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) – (OCTT) in various disciplines. The Steel Authority of India Limited has released the recruitment notification for 314 operator cum technician positions on its official website. The last date for submitting applications is 18th March 2024.
These positions are to be filled in SAIL’s five integrated plants, three special steel plants, centralized units, and mines at different locations across India. The Steel Authority of India Ltd. has five integrated steel plants at Bhilai, Durgapur, Rourkela, Bokaro and Burnpur, three special steel plants at Salem, Durgapur and Bhadravati.

SAIL Operator cum Technician Vacancy Salary
Candidates selected for this posts will be required to undergo on the job training for a period of 2 years, which can be extended for a further period of 2 years as per requirement. During the training period, they will be paid a consolidated pay of Rs. 16,100 for the first year and Rs. 18,300 for the second year of training. They will also get free medical facilities, leave, etc. as per the rules of the company.
On successful completion of training, they shall be considered for regular employment in S-3 grade in the scale of pay of Rs 26600–3%–38920/- (S-3).
Selection Process: SAIL OCTT Hiring 2024
Candidates eligible for the recruitment process will need to participate in the Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted in Hindi or English. The CBT comprises 100 objective-type questions divided into two segments, with 50 questions on Domain Knowledge and 50 on Aptitude Test. The duration of the CBT is set at 90 minutes. The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT will be determined based on a 50 percentile score for unreserved/EWS posts and a 40 percentile score for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/ PwBDs.
It is important to note that the Skill Test is only of a qualifying nature. Candidates will be permitted to participate in the CBT/Skill Test upon presenting the call letter/admit card, a government-approved photo identity proof, and after undergoing biometric authentication at the venue.
